December 2022 - Rachel's Science Advances paper is online now! |
In this study (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/sciadv.abq7023), a big class of nitrated phenols were unexpectedly discovered by Rachel using protein-guided nontargeted analysis, which were formed via indoor HONO reaction. Great job, Rachel! This is a great team work. Many thanks to our collaborators including the Abbatt, Krause, Song, Balaguer and Ouazia group! |

September-2022 our plastic paper is online now |
In this study (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/acs.est.2c03608) co-led by Wanzhen and Yufeng, we discovered the toxicity-driving chemicals in plastics, among thousands of co-occurring chemical additives. This is also the first paper of Wanzhen's PhD research. Well done, Wanzhen and Yufeng! |

August 2022-Our eCPIN database is officially online now! |
We aim to build the environmental Chemical-Protein Interaction Network (eCPIN) between ~100k chemical contaminants and ~20k human proteins. All new interactions and ligands discovered by our protein affinity purification and nontargeted analysis method, will be deposited on the database (https://penggroup.shinyapps.io/ecpin/). |

July-2022 Our Science Signaling paper is online now! Congrats, Jiabao! |
In this study (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/scisignal.abo1857), by using our protein affinity purfication method and nontargeted analysis, we identified 7(S)-HDHA as the endogenous ligand of PPARa. This is the stongest endogenous PPARa ligand to date! Big thanks to our collaborators, as well as Henry Krause who co-supervised this project! |

May-2022 Our Study on Triclosan was published in ES&T! |
In this study (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs.est.2c00406), we identified Triclosan as the predominant antibacterial compound in Ontario sewage treatment plants using a combination of non-targeted analysis, protein-guided pulldown, and bacteria overexpression and knockdown studies! Thank you to our collaborators on this paper: Paul Yang and Chunyan Hao from Ontario MECC, Jonathan Verreault, and Yu Zhang. |
