Abstract:

The dynamical behavior of two coupled Rössler oscillators is investigated as a function of the coupling strength and a parameter that determines the state of the isolated oscillators. In the period-one regime π-out-of-phase limit cycle behavior is observed, followed by bifurcation to a torus. In the period-two regime out-of-phase, symmetry-broken orbits are observed, which bifurcate directly to chaos after a finite number of period doublings. © 1984.
