Abstract:

A numerical study of dichotomous noise-induced transitions in a one-dimensional bistable system is presented. Using projection operator techniques on an extended phase space that includes the stochastic variable, expressions for the rate coefficients are derived. When a phenomenological law is valid, these expressions provide an efficient algorithm for estimating the rate coefficient. Numerical results are presented and compared with analytical theories. © 1989 American Institute of Physics.
